PRSA Buffalo Niagara Bring a Prospective Member Program

Did we mention...PRIZES?!

To encourage participation, each time members bring a prospective member, they will be entered into a prize drawing (drawings held twice a year).

GUIDELINES:

A member may bring only one prospective member to an event, but may do so for up to four programs in a calendar year.
A prospective member may attend only one event as a free guest. For subsequent events, prospective members must either pay the non-member rate for events or join PRSA and pay the member rate.
A maximum of four prospective members may attend an event. Availability will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Excalibur dinner and conferences are exempt from this promotion. Other sessions will be exempt if determined necessary at the discretion of the board.
Members who wish to bring a prospective member must complete and submit prospective member data sheet via Fax or e-mail. Prospective member requests are subject to approval and availability; your request will be confirmed within three business days of registration. If a data sheet is not provided for the prospective member, the member must bear the cost of the attendee.
The “bring a prospective member” offer cannot be backdated or requested at or after an event. It must be requested in advance upon registration and is subject to space and availability.
This program is designed to generate interest in PRSA membership from prospective members. Members are asked to bring guests who are genuinely prospects and who are employed in a public relations, communications or related function, rather than friends or colleagues who would simply enjoy a particular program (though such guests are always welcome as paying attendees). If it is deemed by the committee that a request to bring a prospective member violates the spirit of this intention, the request shall be denied.

So, the next time you find yourself talking with someone who could benefit from membership in PRSA, invite them to a program. You’ll be helping that person expand horizons and helping your organization grow. And, you may even win something as an added bonus!

Membership Levels

Full. Full PRSA membership is open to individuals of any age who devote a substantial portion of time to the paid, professional practice of public relations, or to the teaching or administration of public relations curriculum in an accredited college or university. Annual national PRSA dues are $225 and combined with the Buffalo/Niagara Chapter's $40 dues, full PRSA membership is $265 annually. New members must also pay a one-time $65 initiation fee.

Associate. PRSA offers Associate Membership to the following: Those who are eligible for associate membership include:

PRSSA graduates – Annual dues are $60 for anyone who was a Public Relations Student Society of America member at the time of graduation and submits his or her PRSA application within two years of graduation.
Graduate Students – Annual dues are $100 ($60 national and $40 local) for anyone working full-time toward a master's or doctorate degree for the purpose of teaching public relations. Proof of full-time status must be submitted with the membership application.
Practitioners with less than one year of experience – Annual dues are $155 ($115 national and $40 local).
Practitioners with one to two years of experience – Annual dues are $195 ($155 national and $40 local).

The $65 initiation fee is waived for associate members until they become full members. No individual may remain an associate member for more than two years.

Semi-Retirees. This category is open to those who have been members for at least five years and are employed less than 50 percent of their time. The annual dues are $90 ($50 national and $40 local).

Quarterly Billing Option. PRSA members can renew their membership on a quarterly payment plan. Your national dues will be automatically charged to your credit card each quarter (sorry, no checks or wire transfer payments). Any Chapter, Professional Interest Section, and/or Affinity group dues, plus a $10 annual service charge, will be charged in full in the first payment.
